South West Do Care has been providing social support to the older community since 1983.
South West Do Care provides social support programs for people over the age of 65, in the Colac/Otway region. We specialise in co-ordinating one-to-one companionship friendship for older people living either in their own home or in an aged care facility and who have limited opportunities for social interaction.
The service co-ordinates caring volunteers to visit these older people for a regular social chat, and perhaps to encourage them to enjoy the wider community.
Our volunteers regularly report that, as well as providing friendship for their clients, they too receive great satisfaction from this contact.
We further provide a range of activities and outings which are detailed on the Services and Activities page.
South West Do Care is principally funded by Federal funding streams based on our ability to deliver an agreed level of services. In addition to this, we are totally reliant on an enormous and generous contribution of time given by volunteers.
The range of services is delivered by our part time staff comprising and Executive Officer, Liaison Officer, Lifestyle Coordinator and CVS Coordinator.
An eight member Board of Governance works to help deliver a high level of professionalism, accountability, compliance and to ensure secure finances. Ken White, Frank De Lorenzo, Scott Johnstone, Brian Crook, Jim Ryan, Pauline Robertson, Tony Mahoney and Bev Smith make up the team.
